From 17th May 2021 the NHS App has a new functionality for proof of vaccination status
The new functionality has gone Live today in the NHS App (in advance of Mon 17th go live date)
This uses NIMS data (NOT GP record data) and therefore does NOT need any practice involvement for a patient to register for the App and access the covid information
The status displays separately (and differently) to any GP record information, if a patient has record access enabled – GP record access is NOT needed to be able to access the Covid Vacc Status
The Covid Vaccination Status is on the first screen when you login to the App (screenshot below)
As far as I am aware, Mon 17th May is still the date for 119 to be able to provide letters to those who are unable to access the NHS App
